Unless you have a Russian passport there is a good chance that you would need a Visa to visit Russia.
We recommend that you contact any travel agency that can help you with obtaining a "Tourist Visa".

The process of getting a Visa

At the time of writing this (29 March 2014) you will need:

  • A valid Passport
  • A "Tourist Voucher"
  • Confirmed hotel accommodation
  • Other supporting documentation (check with the company who is applying for your Visa)

"Tourist voucher"
This document is issued by an authorised travel agent etc. and is used to confirm the dates you will be staying at a specific hotel in Russia. The voucher will only be valid for a maximum of 30 days for you to visit Russia, so make sure you have the correct dates when you apply for the voucher, as if it is issued incorrectly you will need to apply for a new tourist voucher.
Confirmed hotel accommodation
The easiest way is for you to book accommodation well in advance, and then supply this information when you apply for the tourist voucher. If you are planning to stay with a friend in Saint Petersburg, there is an alternative option to booking confirmed accommodation. (Please email Craig for more information about this.)
The hotel where you will be staying will be printed onto the voucher, and will be used when your visa application form is completed.
Other supporting documentation
This will depend on the passport you have, and the country that you are resident in. Please check with the company that you wish to use to apply for your visa, as to what documentation they will need. This can sometimes include documents like proof of income, proof of work etc.

Applying for your Visa

Make sure you give yourself enough time in advance to apply for your Visa. If you wait until the last moment, then you might not get your Visa in time to visit Russia. We suggest you contact a good travel agent who can suggest when you should apply for your Visa.

Make sure

You are coming to Russia, as a "Tourist" and will be visiting some tourist attractions in Saint Petersburg. Do not apply for any other type of Visa, as we will not be able to give you additional advice if you chose a different Visa type. Tourist Visa's are valid for 30 days maximum.

If applying in the UK - GoRussia.

In the United Kingdom, we recommend that you make use of GoRussia_png_144x109Click on the image to go to their website. On the GoRussia website you will find useful information, so have a look. It might be that the same conditions will apply to you if you are not in the United Kingdom, so by all means make use of this as guidelines for your Visa Application process.

If you have trouble with finding a travel agent who can help, then please get in touch as we do have a very good company in Saint Petersburg in Russia who can help with the visa process.
